LOCAL FLOOD WATCH ADVISORY
Recent heavy rainfall
and runoff from heavy rainfall in North of us is entering Florida Panhandle
river systems and will cause them to rise rather significantly over the next
couple days. This office will be monitoring the Ochlockonee and Crooked River
very closely over the next couple of days. Although the National Weather
Service has not issued a flood watch for our area, they do not know how much
rainfall we have received in the Forest. With the forest and streams and
ditches already full I just want us to be extremely cautious over the next
couple of days.
- If you live directly on the water’s
edge, or if your home or camp site is subject to flooding due to River
flooding alone the Ochlockonee and Crooked River, be extremely vigilant
during the next couple of days as the water starts to flow down the river
from the heavy amounts of rain fall in the north.
- A flood watch means there is a
potential for flooding based on current forecast.
- Residents in and near the watch area
should continue to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood
warnings.
- Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
