Residents along Crooked and Ochlockonee Rivers urged to monitor river levels

The Franklin County Emergency Management Office has issued a local flood advisory and is asking residents along the Ochlockonee and Crooked Rivers to monitor water levels very closely over the next couple of days.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecast.

Recent heavy rainfall and runoff from heavy rainfall North of Franklin County is entering Florida Panhandle river systems and will cause them to rise rather significantly over the next couple days.

The National Weather Service has not issued a flood watch for our area, but local emergency officials say with streams and ditches in the forest and already full residents should be prepared.

The Emergency Management Office said if you live directly on the water’s edge, or if your home or camp site is subject to flooding due to River flooding along the Ochlockonee and Crooked River, you should continue to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
