APALACHICOLA RESERVE HOSTS Workshop On How to Build a Rain Barrel

~Learn to build your own Rain Barrel and how you can help stop runoff~

=============
APALACHICOLA - The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve’s Coastal Training Program (CTP) will be hosting a rain barrel workshop on Saturday, February 14th. Participants will learn how to construct a rain barrel to harvest rain for future use. They will also learn about non-point source pollution (runoff), the impact it has on water quality, and how rain harvesting can actually help reduce this type of pollution. Other Green Infrastructure technology such as rain gardens, green roofs, and bio-swales will also be discussed before the hands on part of the workshop. Following the discussion participants will be handed drills and hardware to assemble their very 35 gallon own rain barrel that they can take home. This will be the sixth rain barrel workshop that the CTP has conducted. Many thanks goes to the Coca Cola Company for donating the barrels and for the support of the Friends of the Reserve.
The workshop will be held at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve. The cost is $30.00 and registration is required. For more information contact Margo Posten at 850-670-7719 or Margo.Posten@dep.state.fl.us.
