Assistant Boat Captain for RV Apalachee 

Job Description:

Primary duties of this position include maintenance of the RV Apalachee and serving as the Boat Captain when the 1st Captain is either unavailable to go to sea or while at sea on multi-day cruises, in which case they split shifts to ensure compliance with Coast Guard rules.  Qualifications include: a 100-ton valid Captain's license, meeting all US Coast Guard standards for time at sea & drug testing bachelor's degree & 2-years experience related to the job duties, or a high school diploma and 6-years experience experience with scientific field equipment use and maintenance attention to detail ability to work independently, be a self-starter, and have strong critical thinking and communication skills. proficient at computer applications including excel and word
