Pediatrician Retires from Sacred Heart Medical Group in Apalachicola

APALACHICOLA, Fla. – Board-certified pediatrician Dr. Robert Head will retire from his practice at Sacred Heart Medical Group in Apalachicola, with his last day being Tuesday, March 31.

Dr. Head has practiced medicine for 39 years. He earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi in Jackson, Mississippi, and completed residency training in pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Head joined Sacred Heart Medical Group in January 2012 and will be greatly missed by his staff, colleagues and patients.

In honor of Dr. Head’s last day, a farewell reception will be held at his office, located at 55 Avenue E (Highway 98) in Apalachicola, on Tuesday, March 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. Patients and community members are invited to thank Dr. Head for his years of service and also meet Dr. Ryan Pharr, who joined Sacred Heart Medical Group earlier this month and replaces Dr. Head at the Apalachicola office.

Dr. Ryan Pharr is a board-certified family medicine physician. Dr. Pharr comes to Apalachicola after practicing family and emergency medicine for eight years at Salem Memorial District Hospital in Salem, Missouri, where he was Vice Chief of Staff and later Chief of Staff. Dr. Pharr graduated from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his internship and his residency training in family medicine at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he was named Chief Resident.

Dr. Pharr is accepting new patients, including children of all ages. He provides comprehensive health care for the whole family, including minor outpatient procedures such as joint injections and skin lesion removals. Most major insurances are accepted. Same-day appointments are available when possible. His office is located at 55 Avenue E (Highway 98) in Apalachicola, Fla.
