Two individuals perished and a third individual was injured in an Ochlockonee Bay house fire reported at 1:44 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.
One of the individuals smelled smoke and escaped the burning single story structure and contacted neighbors who called 911. The structure was fully engulfed when law enforcement and Wakulla firefighters arrived on scene.
The individual who escaped the fire was treated by Wakulla EMS at the scene and transported to the hospital.
Wakulla firefighters continued to battle the fire until they were able to make entry into the home at 3:31 a.m. The two deceased individuals were discovered inside the home at that time.
The identities of the two individuals who died in the fire are being withheld pending notification of family.
The state Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. More information will be released as it becomes available.
