Local teacher honored with Governor's SHINE award

The Governor and Cabinet on Tuesday recognized a Franklin County teacher with the Governor’s Shine Awards.

The Shine Award is presented to Floridians who have positively helped Florida students through education.

Audrey Gay who teaches 5th grade at the Franklin County School was one of 8 teachers recognized this week

Mrs. Gay is a 38-year veteran of Franklin County Schools.

She introduces hands-on science lessons and also uses music to aid in student retention of information.


Governor Rick Scott said he is proud to present the Governor’s Shine Award to the teachers for going above and beyond in order to make a difference in the lives of their students.
