The Alligator Point Water Resources District said it found E-coli in two
water wells during a routine monthly water assessment.
The
bacteria were found on May the 28th in wells 4 and 5, which were
immediately taken off-line.
The
Water district is now conducting additional sampling of the wells to determine
the extent of the problem and is conducting a thorough investigation to
determine the source of the contamination.
The
district is working with the State Department of Environmental Protection to implement
corrective actions to ensure that the water supplies are protected against
contamination.
The
water District said that samples taken from the water distribution system
showed no signs of bacteria and there is no need for customers to boil their
water at this time.
