Franklin
County is looking for a new building official.
Long time county building
official Robin Brinkley has announced that he will retire as soon as his
replacement can be found.
He has already cut his hours to
part-time.
The county has to have a building
official in order to issue building permits.
Mister Brinkley also served as
the building official for the city of Apalachicola; County planner Alan Pierce
said the city will have to take back that responsibility beginning September
the 30th – the county will continue to provide the service until
then.
In order to sit for the building
official’s exam, an applicant must have 10 years experience in the construction
industry.
The starting salary for the job
is 45 thousand dollars a year.
No one in the County planning
office has the necessary experience, so the county is advertising for the
vacancy.
If you are interested in learning
more about the job, contact the Franklin County planning and zoning office at
the Franklin County courthouse annex in Apalachicola.
