County commissioners on Tuesday approved
a lease with the Friends of the Franklin County Public Library so the county
can continue to use the building and property where the Eastpoint branch of the
library is located.
The
lease took effect on Tuesday and will automatically renew every year until one
of the parties wants to change it.
The
previous lease ended earlier this year, and county attorney Michael Shuler said
this will clean that problem up.
The
county had rejected a lease proposal earlier this summer because of a clause
that would have required the county to maintain the road and parking lot for
the library.
Under
the new lease the friends group will continue to maintain both.
The
new lease also lowers the rent from 2700 dollars a month to 2000 dollars a
month.
