Job creation incentive money available for businesses in Northwest Florida

The University of West Florida Office of Economic Development and Engagement is accepting applications for $5 million in job creation incentives.
The funds were allocated by the Florida Legislature in 2011 to foster economic recovery in areas hit hardest by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
The fund is intended to supplement state and local incentives in enticing medium and large businesses to relocate to the Florida Panhandle.
Applications are being accepted now through June 30th, 2016.
Companies can receive a maximum of $1 million dollars in incentives through the program.
In order to be eligible, projects must be located in, relocating to or expanding in one of the eight counties hit hardest by the BP oil spill which includes Franklin, Gulf and Wakulla counties.
Applicants must create at least 10 net new jobs if in a designated rural area and at least 30 jobs if they are located in a more urban area.

To get more information about the incentives visit the University of West Florida website at uwf.edu or call Dr. Brice Harris at 850-698-2107.
