Area park projects receive state funding

Park projects in the Cities of Carrabelle and Port St. Joe were among 110 projects statewide to receive state recreation assistance funding this year.
Carrabelle was awarded 100 thousand dollars for phase two and phase three of the city’s Sands park project.
The money will pay to install new playground equipment at the park along with a new exercise trail. New picnic facilities, and a butterfly garden.
It will also pay for an irrigation system and other amenities like bike racks to benches.
The City of Port St. Joe will get 50 thousand dollars to improve forest park south.
The money will allow the city to install new playground equipment along with picnic and restroom facilities.

The money is coming through the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program.
