Red Tide is still being found off Franklin, Gulf and Bay counties

Red tide is still showing up in water samples taken from our area.

Red Tide is an organism that in large enough concentrations can kill fish.

It can also cause skin, throat and lung irritation in humans.

According to the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, red tide was found in background to high concentrations in 12 water samples collected last week along and offshore of Franklin, Gulf and Bay counties.

It was found in very low concentrations in water samples taken from Big Bayou in Franklin County just northwest of St. Vincent Sound.

It’s being seen in high concentrations in Gulf County waters at the end of lightkeeper’s drive and the west end of Selma Street.
