County
commissioners would like to beef up security at local boat ramps.
Commissioner Smokey Parrish said
there was some vandalism at the Abercrombie Boat ramp in Apalachicola last
weekend in which the tires were slashed on a number of trucks and trailers.
He said 4 vehicles were damaged
and added that a new set of tires is not cheap.
His concern is that things could
get worse during hunting season when there could be upwards of 80 vehicles at
the boat ramp.
He has asked for increase police
patrols at the boat ramp as well as at other county owned ramps.
He said he has other ideas he
would like to discuss with the sheriff’s department and will meet with sheriff’s
officials as soon as possible to discuss his ideas.
