Local groups benefit from Duke Energy Foundation

Duke Energy gave more than 3 million dollars to non-profit groups in Florida last year, including a couple of local organizations.
The company provides money through the Duke Energy Foundation with a focus on education, environment, economic and workforce development, and community impact.
The Foundation provided 25 thousand dollars to the newly established Conservation Corps of the Forgotten Coast – an Apalachicola-based job training program for young adults.
That program is operated through Franklin’s Promise; the money will help fund an on-the-job training program in conjunction with the Nature Conservancy.

The Foundation also provided funds to the Gulf Specimen Aquarium Marine Lab in Panacea.
