Franklin County Commissioners have
approved the installation of tracking systems in the trucks used at the solid
waste department.
Solid
Waste director Fonda Davis said he plans to install the system in a dozen
trucks used by the landfill.
The
system will locate trucks and monitor their location from a computer at the
landfill.
Fonda
said the system will help provide needed information to FEMA during storm
recovery.
It
will also help the solid waste department save on fuel by allowing for better
planned routes.
The
system will cost the solid waste department 3000 dollar a year – the money was
already budgeted for the project.
