Red snapper season could be 8 days longer this year

Red Snapper fishermen in Florida may get an extra 8 days to fish this year.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is considering a 78 day red snapper season over 6 months.
The proposed season would be open Saturdays and Sundays in May starting May 7th and then open continuously from May 28th through July 10th.
The season would reopen on weekends through September and October providing for 78 days of red snapper fishing in state waters.
The 2015 season provided 70 days of fishing.

The FWC will give the proposal a final vote at their meeting in April.
