CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. – Today, Secretary Julies Jones and members of FDC leadership honored fallen correctional officers and employees during the Department’s annual wreath laying ceremony at Wakulla Correctional Institution.
Secretary Julie Jones said, “Each day our members courageously put their lives on the line in pursuit of public safety. During this ceremony, we take a moment to remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in dedicating their lives to protecting Florida’s communities. We are forever grateful for their service.”
During the ceremony, three fallen members of the Department were honored. The family members of Correctional Probation Officer Artherene Alexander, Correctional Probation Senior Supervisor Eric Simpson and Vocational Instructor John Roark were presented with a display containing the agency’s flag. The names of these members will be engraved in the Fallen Officer Memorial at the institution.
