Franklin county agrees to restore "veterans wall' in county courthouse

Franklin County Commissioners have agreed to help the fund the restoration of a number of veterans’ photos on the first floor of the courthouse.
A number of years ago the Property Appraisers office began accepting photos of veterans in our community and scanning the pictures for display in the courthouse.
There are currently 131 pictures in the collection, but they are starting fall off the wall.
On Tuesday, local property appraiser Rhonda Skipper and Veteran’s Affairs officer Charles Elliot asked if the county would help fund framing the pictures so that the display looks better.
It won’t cost much; Mister Elliot said the whole process would cost around 400 dollars.
But it will make a big difference for people who have photos of family members on the wall.
Commissioners agreed it was a small price to pay to make a better tribute to our veterans.
And if you have a family member who was a veteran and you would like to have their picture added to the wall, bring your pictures to the property appraiser’s office in the courthouse and they will scan it so you can have the original back.

They also plan to make pdfs of the photos so they can be accessed by computer.
