Anglers, Be Aware of Tagged Cobia in Florida Waters
Along Florida’s east coast, cobia are being fitted with conventional dart tags and surgically implanted with acoustic transmitters. Data collected will allow researchers to track cobia movements and help managers make informed decisions on the cobia fishery.
For the purpose of this study, please do NOT harvest tagged cobia!
- Record the tag number, fork length, date and general location of catch.
- Release the fish in good condition with tags still intact.
- Call 888-824-7472 to report the cobia and get a t-shirt.
