The
Eastpoint Water and Sewer District will hold a public hearing Tuesday afternoon
to get public input on a proposed water rate increase.
The Eastpoint Water and Sewer District is seeking a 10
percent increase on rates for residential, commercial and industrial customers.
The water district said most customers would see about a
four dollar increase in their monthly bills.
If the rate increase is approved it will be the first rate
increase for Eastpoint customers since 2008.
The rate increase will help the District maintain its
infrastructure and pay its operating costs.
It will also allow the Water and sewer districts to increase
its hours of operation.
The public hearing will begin at 430 Tuesday afternoon at
the Eastpoint Water and Sewer District Office at 40 Island Drive in Eastpoint.
This is the first public hearing, the final hearing will be
held next week.
