FWC TROPICAL STORM CLOSURES AS OF SEPT. 1, 2016


A State of Emergency has been declared for parts of Florida's Gulf Coast.

Levy County - All public boat ramps have been closed.
Big Bend Wildlife Management Area - These closures will remain in effect until local staff can complete a field inspection after the storm passes to ensure that no damages to spillways or roads have taken place and the public can re-enter safely. Tropical Storm Hermine's associated storm surge is expected to overtake the spillways of the Hickory Mound Impoundment, the Hagen’s Cove public recreation area, and selected roads.
  • Hickory Mound Unit: Closed
  • Spring Creek Unit: Closed
  • Tide Swamp Unit: Closed
  • Snipe Island: Closed
Andrews Wildlife Management Area - The Andrews Wildlife Management Area closes at noon Sept. 1 and will remain closed until local staff can complete a field inspection after the storm passes to ensure that the public can re-enter safely.
School Bus Road closed on Arbuckle WMA.

FWC Offices

  • All state offices in 51 counties closed at noon, Sept. 1. Decisions as to opening/closing on Friday, Sept. 2 are pending. (Counties included in the closure are: ALACHUA, BAKER, BAY, BRADFORD, BREVARD, CALHOUN, CITRUS, CLAY, COLUMBIA, DIXIE, DUVAL, ESCAMBIA, FLAGLER, FRANKLIN, GADSDEN, GILCHRIST, GULF, HAMILTON, HERNANDO, HILLSBOROUGH, HOLMES, JACKSON, JEFFERSON, LAFAYETTE, LAKE, LEON, LEVY, LIBERTY, MADISON, MANATEE, MARION, NASSAU, OKALOOSA, ORANGE, OSCEOLA, PASCO, PINELLAS, POLK, PUTNAM, SANTA ROSA, SARASOTA, SEMINOLE, ST. JOHNS, SUMTER, SUWANNEE, TAYLOR, UNION, VOLUSIA, WAKULLA, WALTON, AND WASHINGTON)
  • Chassahowitzka WMA Field Office and the Chinsegut WEA Nature Center Office will be closed Thursday, Sept. 1 and will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2.
  • The Senator George Kirkpatrick Marine Lab in Cedar Key is closed as of 5 p.m. Aug. 31. The FWC Cedar Key office will remain closed on Sept. 1.
  • All FWC offices located in Gulf, Franklin and Wakulla Counties are closed under administrative order in response to weather conditions from Tropical Storm Hermine, effective 8 a.m. EDT, Thursday, Sept. 1. This includes the Carrabelle and Eastpoint offices and all other county operations. This administrative closure will be effective until 8 a.m. EDT, Friday, Sept. 2 for Gulf County and until 5 p.m. EDT Friday, Sep. 2 for Franklin and Wakulla Counties.
