Gulf Council to hold a meeting of its Standing, Reef Fish, Shrimp, Coastal Migratory Pelagics Scientific and Statistical Committees.
 
The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council has scheduled a meeting of its Standing, Reef Fish, Shrimp, Coastal Migratory Pelagics Scientific and Statistical Committees (SSC), September 20 - 21, 2016. The meeting will be held in the Gulf Council's Conference Room at 2203 N. Lois Avenue, Suite 1100, Tampa, Florida 33607. The meeting begins at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 20, and concludes no later than 5:00 pm Wednesday, September 21.
 
The Standing and Mackerel SSC will meet Tuesday afternoon to discuss updated yield streams for Gulf migratory group king mackerel.
 
The Standing and Reef Fish SSC will then meet to review the goliath grouper benchmark assessment and evaluate species for future data-poor assessments.
 
The Standing and Shrimp SSC will meet Wednesday morning to discuss risk assessment for threshold federal shrimp permit numbers relative to sea turtle incidental take constrains.
 
Finally, the Standing and Reef Fish SSC will meet for a second session to discuss:
  • Gray triggerfish rebuilding
  • Recreational red snapper split seasons
  • SEDAR scheduling
  • Limit and target reference points and MSY proxies for reef fish
  • ABC control rule alternatives

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional Fishery Management Councils established by the Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1976. The Council prepares fishery management plans, which are designed to manage fishery resources within the 200-mile limit of the Gulf of Mexico.
