Only one bid on phase 2 of Fort Coombs Armory renovation

Only one company submitted a bid for work on phase 2 of the Fort Coombs Armory renovation project.

Franklin County is in the process of renovating the Armory to make the historic building more accessible as a convention center and a destination for private events like weddings.

Over the past few years the county has installed a central heating, ventilation and air conditioning in the historic building.

There are also new handicapped accessible restrooms and many of the original windows have been repaired.

Phase 2 of the project includes leveling the floor, renovating the main entrance, doing more window renovations and making a ramp into the building completely ADA compliant.

The county has about 200 thousand dollars budgeted for the work.

The only bid for the work came from ARC Master Builders out of Tallahassee and they only bid on a portion of the work.

The company bid about 78 thousand dollars to straighten the floor, and about 65 thousand dollars for window work.

There was no bid for the ADA ramp or for the main entrance renovations.

The bid will be considered by a committee that will make a recommendation to the county commission.
