State Senator Bill Montford has been
named Chairman of the Commerce and Tourism Committee and Vice
Chairman of Communications, Energy, and Public Utilities Committee
for the 2017-18 Legislative Sessions.

Appropriations, Appropriations Subcommittee on Pre-K - 12 Education,
Health Policy, and Rules Committees. Senator Montford represents a
diverse district in North Florida that includes eleven counties.
“The economy influences the success
of every institution in the State and so it is important to maintain
a business friendly environment in Florida, as well as to stay
focused on efforts to maintain a robust tourism industry. With more
than 85 million people visiting our State already this year, Florida
is sure to continue growing. Strong business and government
partnerships will help ensure we have the much needed infrastructure
to sustain that growth. Florida is an incredibly diverse State, and
we are blessed with pristine environmental and historic sites across
the State, transportation hubs in major cities and the preservation
of land and small town life in rural areas. These unique areas
provide economic opportunities that are good for all of Florida. As
Chairman, I look forward to ensuring that the State is a good partner
for local governments and businesses so we can capitalize on those
opportunities. I appreciate President Negron’s confidence in me and
I look forward to serving District 3 and the State of Florida in this
new capacity,” said Senator Montford upon his appointment.
