Smokey Parrish named chairman of Franklin county commission

The Franklin County Commission has a new chairman.

District 4 Commissioner Smokey Parrish was named to the chairman's position on Tuesday.

Parrish has served as vice-chairman for the past year.

Parrish has served on the county commission since 2006, he has also served as chairman before.

Vice chairman for the next year is Noah Lockley who represent District 3.

Lockley was first elected in 2004 and is currently serving his 4^th term in office.

The County Commission on Tuesday also welcomed its newest member to the board.

Recently-elected District 1 commissioner Ricky Jones took the oath of office this week.

Jones represents St. George Island and much of Eastpoint.
