Join Alex as he takes you on a powerful journey of how Hurricane Michael impacted his life and his business. Gulf County will never be the same after Hurricane Michael – it will be better. The businesses are reopening, giving everyone a chance to ReDiscover the beauty that is still Gulf County. Bart Lowry is the owner to one of the oldest businesses in Gulf County and the oldest business on Reid Avenue. This is a new chapter for not only Bart and St. Joe Bar & Package but also Gulf County...but it will be better!
The Historic Port Inn opened in 1908 and since then has dealt with hardships. It has been renovated, cared for, and loved. Hurricane Michael's surge and wind damaged the entire first floor. Families have been here for generations, many laying down roots and starting businesses in Gulf County. The McNeill family is one that many recognize and a lot of time you may see Jimmy Mac sitting outside Indian Pass Raw Bar playing the spoons. The McNeill family isn't going anywhere! Let Jimmy Mac take you through his story of how the Raw Bar has been tested in the past and has come back and will again.
In times of disasters, it is important that people come together. Eugene Raffield from Raffield Fisheries shares how Gulf County, as a community, rallied together after Hurricane Michael, and that there has been no better display of strength than these past few months after the storm made landfall.
While Hurricane Michael changed both lives and landscapes, locals are hopeful about the future and are thrilled to offer an open invitation to their loyal guests to ReDiscover Gulf County.
