Franklin County beaches will open for a
few hours a day beginning next Monday.
County Commissioners voted today to
reopen local beaches from 6 am to 9 AM every morning and from 5pm to
8 pm at night.
Beach goers will not be limited as to
what they can do on the beaches, including fishing, swimming,
exercising and sunbathing.
They will have to abide by social
distancing rules.
The reopening will begin on Monday, May
the 4th.
Commissioners said waiting a few days
to reopen the beaches will allow the county to put up signs at all
parking areas an beach access points.
The board said reopening on a limited
basis should keep most day trippers from traveling to the county to
go to the beach and will give the county a chance to see how the
reopening is working in case any changes need to be made.
