TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 7, 2020 – The USDA Forest Service will open six boat ramps on the Apalachicola National Forest at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 8.
After conducting risk assessments, Forest Service officials determined the following boat ramps can reopen for public use: Revell Landing, Hitchcock Lake Landing, White Oak Landing, Cotton Landing, Pine Creek Landing and Smith Creek Landing.
Nearby developed recreation areas and campgrounds may not be available for use. Trails and trailheads remain open, but restrooms are shut down. Please remember to avoid congregating at trailheads and parking areas and refrain from gathering in groups of ten or more.
“We are looking forward to opening more recreation areas for public use and enjoyment. Recreating on the Apalachicola National Forest is an activity individuals and families look forward to experiencing every summer,” said Kelly Russell, National Forests in Florida Forest Supervisor. “While we understand there may be some excitement from the public to return to beloved recreation areas, please continue to follow local, state, and federal guidelines on staying safe.”
