The Franklin’s Promise Coalition is partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide books to Franklin County pre-schoolers.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is the preeminent early childhood book gifting program in the world.
The Imagination Library mails more than 1.4 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to registered children from birth to age five.
In April, 103 Franklin County children opened their mailboxes and found a book with their name on
it; In May, 140 children will receive free books.
The goal is to register 100% of Franklin county’s children under the age of five which is just over 500 early readers.
If you want your preschooler to receive a new book each month at no cost you can fill out the registration form online at ImaginationLibrary.com.
You can also fill out the form in person at the Franklin's Promise Coalition office at 60 Island Drive in Eastpoint.
They are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.
Eight to ten weeks after the registration form has been received, books will begin arriving at
the child’s home and will continue until the child turns five.
It’s a lot of books! If a child is signed up at birth, they will receive 60 different books by the time they
reach the age of five, when they officially age out.
The Little Engine That Could is the first book kids receive.
The book also comes with a personal message from Dolly Parton about the importance of reading.
