Franklin County is seeking state money to enhance two local parks and plan to hold public meetings in the next few weeks so the public can voice its opinion on the plans.

The county is seeking a grant through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s FRDAP program for enhancements to parks and recreation facilities.

The Commission hopes to get funding to enhance the St. George Island Playground and Vrooman Park in Eastpoint.

The county will schedule public input meetings in the next two weeks to discuss the proposed Improvements.

The deadline for the county to apply for the money is October the 15th.

They also plan to apply for a grant to upgrade Gene Sewell Park in Lanark Village in the spring to give county staff time to work on the park concept for future funding applications.
