GULF COUNTY BRINGS HOME 2021 FLORIDA TOURISM AWARD

PORT ST. JOE, FL. August 10, 2021–For the third year in a row, Gulf County has been recognized for their efforts in promoting tourism throughout the area. On Wednesday, September 7, VISIT FLORIDA announced the recipients of their 2021 Annual Flagler Awards and the Gulf County Tourist Development Council (GCTDC) was awarded Silver in the Rural County Marketing Category.

Each year, the Flagler Awards honor many of the countless individuals and organizations that help position Florida as a premier travel destination and pay tribute to the determined efforts of those who help ensure the continued success of the state’s most important industry.

Gulf County won the award for their “Wade in” COVID-19 Response and Recovery Campaign. The campaign educated visitors on the current State and Local guidelines and travel advisories and encouraged safe and responsible travel to Gulf County during the pandemic. The campaign focused on only traveling if individuals felt well and encouraged safe outdoor activities.

These accolades are extremely important because they provide Gulf County recognition from industry leaders and help designate the county as a premier tourism destination. The addition of this award gives the county's tourism department a total of four Flagler’s since 2019, along with two Henry Awards (2019) and one Silver Flagler (2020).
