Minimum wage workers in Florida will get a voter-approved pay raise this week.
Beginning October 1st, the state’s minimum wage will go from $8.65 an hour to $10 an hour.
For someone who works 40 hours a week thats a jump of 54 dollars a week.
The rate for tipped workers is moving up from $5.63 an hour to $6.98 an hour.
The increase was approved last year under a constitutional amendment approved by just over 60 percent of voters.
Under that amendment, the rate will increase incrementally each year until reaching $15 an hour or $11.98 for tipped workers on September 30th, 2026.
