Two derelict vessels will soon be removed from the Carrabelle River

Two derelict vessels will soon be removed from the Carrabelle River.

Last week the City of Carrabelle signed a contract with Live Flyer, Inc. of Carrabelle for removal of the two vessels which are tethered to privately-owned docks.

The first vessel is the commercial fishing trawler the Anthony Diane located at the “Old Tom Crum Ice House” docks on Marine St.

The second vessel is a 44’ Sport Fisherman recreational vessel located at the docks owned by Sunset Isle RV and Yacht Club.

Under the contract the vessels have to be removed by December 15th.

It will cost about 90 thousand dollars to remove the two vessels, which the city will pay initially and then be reimbursed for.

Derelict vessels are not only safety and navigational hazards but can also dump pollutants like gasoline and diesel fuel into the water.
