The state of Florida last week announced more than $3.1 million in awards for 12 projects including money for two projects in Wakulla County

The state of Florida last week announced more than $3.1 million in awards for 12 projects through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s Rebuild Florida Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program including money for two projects in Wakulla County.


The awards mark more than $228 million in total funding to date from the Department of Economic Opportunity to Hurricane Michael impacted communities in long-term disaster recovery funding.


The funding to help rebuild affected areas and bolster their recovery and resiliency.


The Wakulla County projects include nearly 41 thousand dollars to install a permanent generator at the Wakulla County Community Center to provide electricity during the center’s function as a post-event shelter following disasters as well as nearly 30 thousand dollars to install a permanent generator at the Wakulla Sheriff’s Office Annex to provide electricity during power outages.
