Animal lovers in our area turned out and made some big donations to local animal shelters during the Betty White Challenge on Monday.
Betty White was a strong supporter of animal shelters, and the Betty White Challenge asked fans to donate to an animal shelter or rescue mission in her name.
The Franklin County Humane Society said it collected much needed supplies during the event as well as over 3200 dollars in cash donations.
That money will help purchase even more supplies for the animals at the shelter.
The St. Joseph Bay Humane Society collected nearly 5500 dollars during the event and said they expect to collect even more before the end of the week from people who are mailing checks in.
