| SGI Tour of Homes Saturday, February 12, 2022
After a hiatus in 2021, the Tenth Annual St. George Island Tour of Homes is back and scheduled for Saturday, February 12, 2022. The tour benefits the St. George Lighthouse Association (SGLA). This year’s tour will feature six unique and attractive homes, from the gated St. George Plantation on the West to the beautiful gulf views on the East End. These homes showcase the distinct architecture, décor, landscape, and vistas on the island. Hours of the tour are from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

| February lineup of Ilse Newell classical and jazz concerts are Valentine's-worthy events February 6 - Leon Anderson - Apalachicola
The Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts will host A Tribute to New Orleans Music featuring the Leon Anderson Jazz Ensemble on February 6, 2022, at 4 P.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Apalachicola. Jazz percussionist Leon Anderson has put together an ensemble of outstanding musicians including Scotty Barnhardt on trumpet, Joe Goldberg on clarinet/sax/flute, Bill Peterson at the piano, and Rodney Jordan on bass. Together they’ll perform a tribute to New Orleans jazz music that honors jazz pioneers such as Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Sidney Bechet, and Ellis Marsalis.
February 11 - Darryl Tookes Valentine's Special - Carrabelle
The Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts presents A Valentine Special featuring Darryl Tookes, vocalist/pianist/composer on February 11, at 8 P.M. at Rio Carrabelle. What better way to prepare for Valentine’s Day than listening to the incredible voice of Darryl Tookes as he performs his Romantic Songs program, featuring music of Cole Porter along with favorite songs and ballads from the American Jazz Songbook. Tookes’ career has included performing with Ray Charles, Al Jarreau, Carly Simon, Aretha Franklin, and many others. He’s performed for Presidents Clinton and Obama as well as dignitaries such as Desmond Tutu, Elizabeth Taylor, Muhammad Ali, and Audrey Hepburn. He is considered by the music industry to be a performer of unequaled stature. February 20 - FSU Percussion Ensemble - Apalachicola
The Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts will host the FSU Percussion Ensemble at 4 pm February 20 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Apalachicola. The Percussion Ensemble from Florida State University is known as one of the best in the country, winning Percussion Ensemble Competitions and producing critically acclaimed recordings. They perform at music festivals throughout the country. Their concert will feature percussion classics such as “Rhapsody for Vibraphone and Marimba” by Michael Taylor and “Slopes” by Paul Rennick.

| | Camp Gordon Johnston Presents Black WWII Exhibit During February
In commemoration of Black History Month, the Camp Gordon Johnston Museum will present an exhibit on the history of two Black Amphibious Truck Companies during February. These are two of several Amphibious Truck Companies that trained at Camp Gordon Johnston during World War II. This exhibit will run from February 1-26. Details.

| History of Turpentine Industry February 12
The Carrabelle History Museum will present a history program entitled, “History of the Turpentine Industry in North Florida” featuring Barbara Clark, North Central Region Director for Florida Public Archaeology (FPAN). This free program will be held 10 am Saturday, February 12 in the upstairs room at C-Quarters Marina, 501 St. James Ave (Hwy 98), Carrabelle. Learn about the impact the turpentine industry also known as naval stores, had on Florida’s history and economy. Details.

| Apalachicola Barkus Parade February 26
The 11th Annual Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus Parade will be celebrated Saturday, February 26. This popular pet themed event will take place from 11am – 4pm at Apalachicola's Riverfront Park. Festivities will include live entertainment, local food vendors, and a variety of arts and craft vendors to enjoy while strolling through the park. In the tradition of the Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers, profits from the parade will be donated to help care for the animals of the Forgotten Coast of Florida.
