Springing into Spring on Owl & Devon Creeks
Warm weather is here. Spring provided our recent paddlers, including FAMU's Outdoor Club, with a shady umbrella of fresh cypress and tupelo leaf growth on Owl and Devon Creeks. The tupelo showed off their signature spiky green balls. Clusters of white flowers will reveal themselves in the coming weeks. (Female trees flower). And tupelo honey will soon be in the making. Cont'd.

Out and About in our Riparian Counties of the Apalachicola River Basin
The community outreach and education opportunities abound in the spring. With pandemic restrictions ended, numerous festivals have returned this season. It's quite energizing to see everyone and discuss our work. Recently Apalachicola Riverkeeper has helped with both the FSU Marine and Coastal Lab Open House and Estuaries Day at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Reserve. (Ever tried gyotaku?) And look for us at the Shrimpfest at SGI this Saturday. In August, we'll host a Meet & Greet in Wewahitchka. Stay tuned! Interested in being a Special Events Volunteer? Contact Cameron Baxley.
We are grateful for the Apalachicola Riverkeeper Trash Basher volunteers! Fearing no garbage or debris, they remain active in keeping pollution out of our waterways. And they make this work incredibly fun! THANK YOU! Want to join a clean up this year? Please let Cameron know.
Thank you Chelsea Salon & Spa in Tallahassee for your generous gift supporting the work of Apalachicola Riverkeeper! Sue Pena (R), owner, and Stacy Hawkins, stylist (L) presented Georgia Ackerman with more than $1500 in donations recently. A long time supporter, the Aveda concept salon raises funds as part of their Earth Month activities. This includes a big gift basket raffle. Thank you all!
