The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will hold a Scallop Rodeo in St. Joseph Bay on Saturday and are looking for members of the public to take part.
Rodeo participants will collect up to 200 live scallops from St. Joseph Bay.
The scallops collected at the rodeo will be placed in predator-exclusion cages to protect them throughout the next year and help restore scallop populations in Gulf County.
The event will begin at 8 AM and end at 4 PM – beginning at the Frank Pate Park Boat Ramp.
You can sign up for the St. Joseph Bay Rodeo at www.SJScallopRodeo.Eventbrite.com.
All Scallop Rodeo participants will receive a custom dry bag at check-in.
If you take part, you will need your own boat or kayak unless you plan to wade in from shore.
You will also need Buckets, Coolers, or Live wells to keep the scallops alive, a dive flag and snorkeling gear.
