Franklin County is seeking money for upgrades and repairs to critical infrastructure in the county

Franklin County is seeking money for upgrades and repairs to critical infrastructure in the county.

The Franklin County Commission agreed to file a notice of intent to seek a Building Resilient Infrastructure Grant through FEMA, the application window opens on September 30th.

The county has a list of projects they would like to see funded, including roof repairs at the courthouse, window replacement at Weems Memorial Hospital and security windows at the Franklin County Jail.

Commissioners are considering other options that could be added to the list in the future.

County grants coordinator Erin Griffith said the county has been trying to get money on these projects for a while and she feels this would be a potential source of funding worth investigating.
