Deadline Approaching: Funding Opportunity to Enhance Climate Science

NOAA's Climate and Fisheries Adaptation Program is soliciting proposals to better understand and support the resilience and adaptation of fisheries and fishing communities to rapidly changing climate and ocean conditions. Since 2015, the program has funded 26 collaborative research projects involving colleges and universities, environmental organizations, NOAA labs and science centers, and other entities. Proposals are due November 21.


NOAA Announces Membership for the American Fisheries Advisory Committee

NOAA Fisheries announced the selection of members for the new American Fisheries Advisory Committee. The committee was established by the American Fisheries Advisory Committee Act in May 2022 to make recommendations for Saltonstall-Kennedy priorities and grant award funding.

Seeking Comments for Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument

On November 9, NOAA Fisheries published a notice seeking comments on drafting an amendment to the Greater Atlantic Region’s fishery management plans. This amendment would incorporate the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument’s area and commercial fishing prohibition into fishery management plans and ultimately, into fishery regulations. NOAA Fisheries is asking for feedback on this action through November 30.
