Franklin County Commissioners have agreed to put a security system on the concession building at Vrooman Park in Eastpoint

Franklin County Commissioners have agreed to put a security system on the concession building at Vrooman Park in Eastpoint and plan to add similar systems to concession stands at all other county owned sports facilities in the future.

The Eastpoint location has been burglarized and vandalized on several occasions, and the county would like to find a way to stop that.

This week the board agreed to purchase a security access system from a company called Vector Security.

The system will cost about a thousand dollars installed and then the county will pay a 45 dollar a month monitoring fee.

County coordinator Michael Moron said he believes the system will be effective in keeping thieves out of the building, but if its not, he has already gotten a quote for a video surveillance system which could be installed if needed.

County commissioners asked that Mister Moron get a quote to install the systems at other county owned sports parks, which would include the DW Wilson Sports Complex in Apalachicola and the Will Kendrick Sports Complex in Carrabelle.

District Three Commissioner Anthony Croom recommended installing the additional security systems as a way for the county to be proactive in preventing theft and vandalism at county parks.
