Calhoun County Chapter of ARK
Blountstown residents met at Neal Landing to discuss ARK activities and hear updates from staff. A primary concern expressed by those in attendance was the Clearwater Land and Minerals permit. Karen and Travis MacClendon coordinated the meeting. The group decided to informally designate themselves as the Calhoun Chapter of Apalachicola Riverkeeper and plans to meet quarterly. Georgia Ackerman provided an update on Riverkeeper programs and answered questions about the drilling plan. She also let the group know an Ice Cream Social is planned in Blountstown for Saturday, August 10, 2024. |

| Riverpalooza Positively Fun Day! Thank you for helping make the first annual Riverpalooza a wonderful success! We were thrilled many people joined the morning cleanup, despite the threatening weather. The big trash scores of the day include two refrigerators pulled from the river. In the afternoon, we gathered for a great mix of music at Apalachicola Yacht Club. A huge thank you goes out to Clayton and Carrie at the Apalachicola Yacht Club for hosting this fun new tradition and coordinating the various activities with Mike Price and Cameron Baxley. Water is Life Oysters provided oysters and the music line up included Clayton Mathis, Chris Matechik, Flying Fish, and the Funky Taters. We have a new tradition in the making! See you in 2025 for the Second Annual Riverpalooza! |
