A Sopchoppy man was arrested Monday after leading Fish and Wildlife officers on a chase in the Apalachicola National Forest

A Sopchoppy man was arrested Monday after leading Fish and Wildlife officers on a chase in the Apalachicola National Forest.

Officers arrested 46-year-old Officer William Ross Frank.

FWC said Frank was on his motorcycle in the forest when he was stopped by an FWC officer.

Frank abandoned his motorcycle and ran into the forest on foot.

Multiple agencies responded to help in the search, including additional FWC units, the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, a Florida Highway Patrol drone operator and a Department of Corrections K-9 team from Wakulla Correctional Institution.

Officers successfully located and captured Frank, who had hidden in thick swampy vegetation that would have been nearly impossible to detect without the K-9’s assistance.

Frank was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer and driving while license suspended or revoked as a habitual traffic offender.
