| A new study published in Nature Communications shows that high fishing pressure and an extreme drought during the late 1980s significantly reduced fisheries production in the Gulf, and future drought conditions could cause more severe declines. Results indicate that total fisheries production dropped by approximately 42% in the early 1990s relative to historical baselines. |
