Apalachicola awarded federal money to combine police and fire stations

The City of Apalachicola is getting some federal money to help combine its police and fire stations into a centrally located area. U.S. Congressman Allen Boyd announced last week that the City of Apalachicola is scheduled to receive $656,500 in federal stimulus dollars for the project. The funding was made available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was recently signed into law with Congressman Boyd’s support. The City of Apalachicola will receive a portion of the money as a stimulus grant of $150,000 and a low-interest loan of $506,500 to begin the project. Congressman Boyd said “With these stimulus dollars, the City of Apalachicola will be able to centralize and upgrade its fire and police departments to better serve the community.”
