TDC begins accepting grant applications Friday

The Franklin County Tourist Development Council will begin accepting applications on Friday for two of its grant programs for non-profit groups. The TDC collects money from every short term rental in the county and provides a portion of their funds every year to help cover operational expenses for non-profit groups through their off-season grant program and their sustaining grants program. The Off Season Grant program helps promote tourism-based events and activities like festivals. The Sustaining Grants Program provides operating expenses for tourism-related facilities or museums. The TDC has $180,000 for the grant programs this year and another $20,000 to publicize events. Groups interested in applying for the money can download an application at www.antauralescape.com or pick up a copy at the council’s office at 17 and a half Avenue E in Apalachicola. Grant applications will be accepted beginning July 3rd. The deadline for returning applications is August 3rd.
