Sheriff's office share in VOCA funds

The Franklin County sheriff’s office will share in more than 19 million dollars that is being distributed statewide to help crime victims throughout Florida. The sheriff’s office is one of over 200 private and public agencies receiving money through the federal Victims of Crime Act to provide direct services to crime victims. Franklin County Sheriff's Office will receive just over seventeen thousand dollars and Legal Services of North Florida which also provides services in Franklin County will receive a little over 46 thousand dollars. The Liberty County Sheriff's Office was awarded over 38 thousand dollars in VOCA money; Wakulla County received over 103 thousand dollars. The United States Department of Justice provides VOCA money annually, which it gets from fines, penalty assessments and bond forfeitures from convicted federal offenders. The funds will be used for a wide variety of programs for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, drunk driving, murder, and other crimes.
