Tropical Storm Claudette bears down on Franklin County

Expect strong winds, heavy rains and high tides today as tropical weather moves over our area.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING is IN EFFECT FROM THE ALABAMA/FLORIDA
BORDER EASTWARD TO THE SUWANNEE RIVER FLORIDA.

TROPICAL STORM CLAUDETTE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH...
And is expected to make in our area BY THIS EVENING.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MPH...55 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.

RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES are expected...WITH ISOLATED MAXIMUM AMOUNTS OF 10 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE.

STORM TIDE IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE MAXIMUM WATER LEVELS OF 3 TO 5
FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL ALONG PORTIONS OF THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE...
INCLUDING THE BIG BEND.

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms. High near 84. East wind 30 to 35 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tonight: Tropical storm conditions expected. A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. South wind 25 to 30 mph decreasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90.

Monday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming east northeast.
