Heavy rains close portion of Apalachicola Bay to oystering

A portion of the Apalachicola Bay is closed to Oyster harvesting today because of the heavy rains that have drenched our area this week. The Department of Agriculture closed the conditionally approved winter west 1 area 1612 and the conditionally approved winter east area 1642 of the bay at sunset Tuesday. The area will remain closed to oyster harvesting while biologists test water quality at the sites.
